Funeral Planning Guide exists because no one should face the most expensive purchase of their lives without independent information. We provide free, unbiased funeral cost data, service comparisons, and planning resources to help US families make informed decisions — with no sales pressure.
Editorial Policy
Every guide, comparison, and data point on this site is independently researched. We are not owned or controlled by any funeral home, casket manufacturer, or service provider, and no company pays us to feature or rank it.

Our Methodology
Cost Data
We derive state-level funeral cost estimates from the NFDA 2023 General Price List Study national medians, adjusted by Bureau of Labor Statistics regional cost-of-living indices. All estimates are clearly labelled as such.
Service Reviews
We evaluate online retailers based on product selection, pricing, shipping, customer service, return policies, and publicly available reviews. We do not accept products or compensation from reviewed companies.
Content
Our guides are written to be comprehensive, accurate, and empathetic. We cite all data sources and update content regularly to ensure accuracy.
